Let’s sketch castles and the charming English countryside, Welsh rolling hills, quaint towns, and the enchanted lands of Scotland. You have lots to chose from for this virtual sketch event.
You could chose to sketch Windsor Castle, in the English county of Berkshire, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. Built in the 11th century, after the Norman Conquest, it includes 13,000 acres of land and was designed to include the features of a fortification, a palace and a small town. It has been in continuous use as the official residence of the reigning monarch, including Queen Elizabeth II.
Or your taste may run toward a more recent palatial home, like Highclere Castle in Hampshire, the site of the acclaimed BBC production of "Downton Abbey.” Designed in the mid-19th century by Sir Charles Barry, architect for the Houses of Parliament, the grounds include up to 1,000 acres of parkland and gardens designed by the renowned landscape architect Capability Jones.
And you couldn’t go wrong sketching the magnificent landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales, site of the BBC series “All Things Great and Small.”
There are no fees. All skill levels are welcome.
