Weekday Urban Sketchers Try Again for

 Onassis Society And St. Pat's

Last week we were snowed out of our sketch date. The management of the Onassis Society has invited us back for this Thursday March 23, 2017  Here is the post from last week with updated information.  Please RSVP directly to Alan Wernicke at

We tend to think of Greek sculpture as a static art form: beautiful but removed and remote.  The current exhibit at the Onassis Society is bringing this art form to life in "A World of Emotion: Greece from 700 BC to 200 AD".   Gathered from around the world, this show features pieces never seen outside of Greece: statues, vases, theatrical masks, amulets, coins and votive offerings will explore the attitudes of people in classical antiquity that would resonate in our modern world.

Located on 5th Ave just north of St. Pat's, we will be able to capture the ancient world for our morning project.  After lunch we will reconvene in St. Patrick's Cathedral to draw the beautiful gothic structure and many artifacts and statues.
